New COVID-19 Vaccine Connector & School Guidance

Thursday, February 18, 2021

f

Dear Neighbors,

The state of Minnesota launched a new COVID-19 Vaccine Connector today. This will serve as a tool to help Minnesotans find out when, where, and how to get their COVID-19 vaccine.

When eligible, the Vaccine Connector will:

  • alert Minnesotans of their eligibility;
  • connect them to resources to schedule a vaccine appointment; and
  • notify them if there are vaccine opportunities in their area.

As Plymouth residents become eligible for the vaccine, they will still make appointments directly through a registered vaccinator at that time. However, the Connector is an easy way for us to stay updated about eligibility and opportunities to get a shot once it’s our turn.

To date, 710,305 Minnesotans have received their first dose of the vaccine.  You can track new information daily at 11:00 a.m. on the COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard.

Here’s an update from the Minnesota Legislature:

Updated School Guidance

Yesterday, Governor Walz announced new school guidance for middle and high schoolers. As hospitalizations and new COVID-19 cases decline and Minnesota makes progress vaccinating educators, the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan will allow more middle and high school students to return to the classroom beginning on February 22. The governor expects all schools to offer their students some form of in-person learning by March 8.

Pharmacy Board Legislation

A bill to create a Prescription Drug Affordability Board is moving through the committee process. With authority to rein in certain high-cost drugs, this board model is being championed as one of the state’s best tools to address the growing challenge of skyrocketing prescription drug prices. Transportation Improvements for Plymouth

I’m currently working on two pieces of legislation to help improve transportation infrastructure in our Plymouth region. The first would appropriate construction funds to make safety improvements along County Road 47 from Highway 101 to Highway 61. The second would provide funding to analyze alternative transit service improvement on Highway 55. I have requested formal hearings for both of these bills and will continue working with the city and stakeholders to address our transportation needs in Plymouth.

Plymouth is a great place to live for many reasons and access to a quality education is one of them. Our wonderful teachers are key contributors to our community and state's success.

We're rooting for you, Ms. Kneeland!
