Dear Neighbors, I hope this email finds you well and you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now that the election is over, I’m able to resume sending these legislative updates from the Capitol. Last month, Minnesotans elected a DFL-majority in the House, Senate, and Governorship. Because of redistricting, some of my constituents may have different representation at the legislature this biennium; you can use the updated Minnesota Legislature’s “Who Represents Me?” finder to search for your new state representative and state senator, effective January 3, 2023. Session kicks off on January 3 and I’m looking forward to getting to work in partnership with all my colleagues- DFL and GOP- to develop a fiscal blueprint that reflects our state’s shared values. This week's positive news on Minnesota’s budget outlook will provide a significant opportunity to lower costs and improve economic security for workers, families, and small businesses so everyone has a chance to breathe, grow, and thrive. I’m pleased to share I've been appointed as the incoming chair to the House State and Local Government Finance and Policy Committee this biennium. Having served two terms under a divided legislature, and with my background as a professional mediator in the private sector, I’m looking forward to contributing my experience to continue to ensure state and local government is transparent and accessible to everyone.
