St. Paul, MN - Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed legislation on a vote of 115-17 to memorialize Michael Gau, a Minnesota Department of Transportation worker who was killed in a highway work zone incident in 2023. The legislation designates the Rockford Road bridge over U.S. Highway 169 in Plymouth to be renamed “Michael Gau Memorial Bridge.”
“Our state lost a dedicated and beloved MNDOT employee in a tragic work accident,” said Rep. Klevorn. “Mr. Gau deserves to be honored for his service, and I’m humbled to author this legislation for Mr. Gau and his family.”
Mr. Gau, who was with MNDOT for 23 years, leaves behind his wife, three children, and six grandchildren.
