Dear Neighbors, Last week, the House lawfully organized and got underway last Thursday after my GOP colleagues accepted our offer, which had been on the table since January. You can read my official press statement here. House Republicans will have their leader, Lisa Demuth, serve as Speaker of the House for the biennium, but most importantly, Rep. Brad Tabke from Shakopee will get to serve his term in office, and Democrats and Republicans will co-govern if and when the House returns to a 67-67 tie next month. Now that the House has officially convened, committees have started work. I will be serving on the House State Government Finance and Policy, Ways and Means, Ethics, and Higher Education Finance and Policy Committees. I will continue working alongside Minnesotans to build a future where everyone in Plymouth and Medicine Lake can get ahead. Over the past few weeks,I’ve been working hard in our district, and I’m excited to bring that work back to the State Capitol. |

The key task at hand for legislators is balancing a state budget for the next two years that doesn’t roll back progress for working families, seniors, people with disabilities, students, and more in Minnesota. We’re also facing the direct effects of federal funding freezes and impending tariffs. The Trump Administration's actions immediately jeopardize state initiatives that provide critical health and child care services to families in need, deliver support to public schools, combat hate crimes and violence against women, provide life-saving disaster relief, and more. Here in Minnesota, these freezes have also put medical research and advancements on hold indefinitely at both Mayo and the University of Minnesota. Minnesota is a leader in medical innovation, and the actions of this Administration is directly stalling that progress on things like cancer research. These freezes could also have major impacts on the child care assistance program, which allows Minnesotans who otherwise could not afford child care to participate in our workforce. I’m working to learn and understand how federal action will impact our west metro communities, and I will keep you updated as we learn more. In the meantime, I continue to meet with Plymouth and Medicine Lake residents in our area and at the Capitol. The subzero temps didn't stop these affordable housing advocates from visiting the Capitol this week! Great to meet with them and learn about the important work they're doing in our community. ![]()
I had a great tour of North Hennepin Community College Tour with President Garcia and colleagues. I appreciated learning about the programs and training they offer to help build up our world-class health care workforce in Minnesota. ![]()
I appreciated Capital Investment DFL Lead Representative Fue Lee stopping by Plymouth recently! Representative Ned Carroll and I are excited to partner with the Three River Parks District and the City of Plymouth to expand our regional trails and revitalize Plymouth's City Center. ![]()
