Eden Prairie, MN - Today, State Representative Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn (DFL - Eden Prairie) released the following statement in response to yesterday’s shooting at Eden Prairie Center:
“Yesterday’s shooting and loss of life is a tragedy, and I am grateful for the swift action by the Eden Prairie Police Department and other area first responders to ensure all other patrons and employees were able to return home safely to their loved ones. My heart goes out to the victim’s family, and to all those shaken by yesterday’s events.”
For those in crisis, Rep. Kotyza-Witthuhn encourages them to use the new 988 hotline, which will connect people with trained counselors. Federal funding is supporting the new service, which will close a significant gap in mental health services. This year, the Eden Prairie Police Department has also added a full-time social worker to assist with mental health concerns.
