We are living through a challenging period. I want to thank you for your patience as Minnesotans create a new normal of living and working with this virus. Please email me with your comments, concerns or suggestions as we move forward. I appreciate hearing from you.
As I mentioned above, to get more Minnesotans back safely to work while the order remains in effect, the Governor announced that retail businesses and other non-critical businesses will resume operations with curbside pick-up. Learn more details here.
I have been working extensively with the Governor’s office and medical professionals from Edina on how we can safely resume medical procedures and other types of basic care amid the pandemic. One of these specifically is allowing for elective surgeries to resume. We are on track to accomplish this. The Governor and Minnesota Department of Health are taking public comment to draft guidance and help in the decision-making process. MDH is asking for public comment today through May 2nd. You can share your input online here.
I’ve also been in communication and collaboration with community members on various proposals to reopen parts of our economy swiftly, but safely. Edina resident Keith Miller, owner of Bubbly Paws, and I have been working with the Governor and Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner to find a strategy for pet groomers to provide curbside grooming services. I’m cautiously optimistic this could be a reality in the near future- especially with summer right around the corner.
City of Edina Seeks Input
The City of Edina has recently launched a COVID-19 survey to hear directly from residents about how they’re being impacted by the virus. The results will help determine where the needs are in our community and how resources could be shifted to address them. You can take the survey before May 5 here.
Edina Leads Minnesota’s Average Census Self-Response Rate
I’m pleased to share that Edina has surpassed the state average of U.S. Census self-responses with 73.3%! Minnesota’s self-response rate is currently at 65.2%.
Now more than ever, our hospitals will rely heavily on federal funds to keep our health care infrastructure stable and strong as our frontline workers continue the fight against COVID-19. If you haven’t already filled out your census form, you still can online.
Keep in Touch
Please keep reaching out with ideas and input. I’m available by cell phone to help answer questions, or just to listen at 651-785-8696 or by email at rep.heather.edelson@house.mn.
Thank you for the honor of representing our Edina families at the Capitol.
Sincerely,
Heather Edelson
