Dear Community Members,
Yesterday the Department of Management and Budget released the November budget forecast, showing an estimated surplus of $17.6 billion. This is a truly historic surplus, which we can utilize to improve health and education outcomes, address the special education cross-subsidy, invest in clean energy and actions to protect our environment, fund officer recruitment and retention as well as provide a balanced approach for tax relief to seniors and working families. We have an opportunity to accomplish a great deal for all Minnesotans!

Board of Pharmacy Lawsuit Against Illegal Cannabis Products
The Minnesota Board of Pharmacy announced a lawsuit against Moorhead-based manufacturers and retailers of edible cannabinoids. The manufacturer and retailer are alleged to have produced and sold products which contained 50x the legal limit of THC.
The Minnesota-based businesses breaking the law should be investigated and held fully accountable civilly, and if they are determined to have caused direct physical harm, criminally. While some improvements are needed and will be addressed in the 2023 session, overall what we passed in 2022 is working as intended. A majority of the hemp businesses are acting within the law and I’m thankful for how the process worked here to maintain integrity in the hemp industry and stop bad actors.
