Hello Friends, If you haven’t heard, the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce will be holding their Legislative Update event this Friday, January 31, from 9-10am at the Shakopee Brewhall. I’ll be there, as will local business owners, community leaders, and our Shakopee neighbors. You can register for the event here. I hope you can make it! Regardless of whether you can join us on Friday, I want to make sure you’re up to date on the latest from the Minnesota House. We find ourselves in an ever-changing situation, with a recent development being the Minnesota Supreme Court ruling that 68 members are required for a quorum and the ability to conduct legislative business. With 67 Republicans and 66 Democrats (and a Roseville special election that’ll likely return us to a tie), that means neither party can push ahead alone. We need to work together. I’m ready to do that work, but until we have assurances that House Republicans will honor the will of the voters and won’t kick me out, I’ll continue to do my work for Shakopee from Shakopee. Whether I’m in Shakopee or St. Paul, always feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or ideas you may have - you can also follow along on my Facebook page. Hope to see you Friday!
