Dear Neighbors, Happy New Year! 2023 is certainly off to a snowy start; according to Minnesota Public Radio’s meteorology data, this January has been the 14th snowiest since 1884. |

The legislative session got underway on Tuesday, and I was honored to have been sworn in for a third term in the Minnesota House representing Apple Valley. This year, I’ll be serving as the vice chair of the Health Finance and Policy committee, in addition to serving on the Climate and Energy Finance and Policy, and Commerce Finance and Policy, and Ethics committees. Our state is in a strong position to solve big challenges and address the needs of the people in our community and across the state. I'm excited to start the work to build a state budget that works for everyone.
Legislative NewsOn Wednesday, House Speaker Melissa Hortman, House Majority Leader Jamie Long, and Senate Majority Leader Kari Diedzic announced several proposals and top priorities we’ll be working in partnership on with our communities, to help Minnesotans thrive and afford their lives. Your feedback is always appreciated, so please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime with your thoughts, stories, and ideas.
Upcoming Community Coffee HoursI’m kicking off the new year with two opportunities to connect with me and our neighbors via my regular Community Coffee hours. On Saturday, January 14 at 9:00 a.m., we’ll gather at the Dunn Bros on Galaxie Ave. in Apple Valley. I’ll be having a virtual option on Zoom on January 28 at 9:00 a.m. as well. Please RSVP with my legislative assistant, Isabel, at isabel.anderson@house.mn.gov to receive the Zoom information to join.
Keep in TouchPlease feel free to contact me anytime with ideas, input, or questions at rep.robert.bierman@house.mn.gov or 651-296-5506. I’d also like to mention Minnesota’s nationally recognized House of Representatives user-friendly website has several tools you can use to stay up to date on what’s happening at the Capitol. The nonpartisan House Public Information office provides daily publications, and you can subscribe to track bills of interest here. You’re also invited to ‘like’ my Facebook page for additional updates on what I’m working on for you and our community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Apple Valley at the State Capitol! Have a great weekend, Robert Bierman |
