Dear Neighbors, I hope this finds you well and you’ve had a chance to enjoy our warm start to summer. The rain we’ve had recently sure is welcome. To our neighbors celebrating, Happy Eid! |
A big thank you to everyone who attended our June Community Coffee hours at Dunn Bros this month. I always appreciate your input and questions! To coincide with new laws in Minnesota taking effect on July 1, Senator Maye Quade, Representative Huot, and I will be hosting a legislative session recap to share highlights and answer your questions. We’ll meet at 10:00 a.m. at Scott Highlands Middle School (14011 Pilot Knob Road, Apple Valley). As always, everyone is welcome and I invite you to share with neighbors who might be interested in attending.
New Laws Take Effect July 1As I mentioned above, new laws will go into effect on July 1 as a result of our work from the legislative session. The initiatives we passed will help lower prescription drug prices, target tax cuts for families and seniors, reduce class sizes and enhance literacy resources for our ISD #196 students, help Apple Valley families afford childcare, expand health care access for veterans and their spouses, protect election workers, and so much more. The nonpartisan office of House Public Information has a summary of the new laws here. The Minnesota Reformer also covered significant measures House DFLers advanced that may not have been covered widely throughout the session.
Keep in TouchPlease continue to reach out anytime with questions, input, and ideas for the 2024 session. We won’t gavel back in until February 12, but the work continues year round. Have a great weekend! Sincerely, Robert Bierman |
