SAINT PAUL, Minn. – On October 8th, Representative Robert Bierman (DFL-Apple Valley), vice chair of the House Health Finance Committee was selected to receive the 2023 Public Official Award from the Minnesota Nurses Association. Rep. Bierman was recognized for his leadership in carrying legislation to ensure the public interest is protected through strong oversight of health care business transactions, including proposed hospital mergers.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by the organization that sets the standard for nursing care in our state and beyond, the Minnesota Nurses Association,” said Rep. Bierman. “Nurses are at the very center of our healthcare system. The well-being of nurses results in the well-being of all of us.”
The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA), a union organization representing 22,000 dedicated Registered Nurses in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Iowa, promotes the professional, economic, and personal well-being of nurses. MNA empowers members to use their collective strength, knowledge, and experience to advance and enhance safe and professional nursing practice, nursing leadership, and community health and well-being, including access to quality healthcare for all.
The legislation, HF 402, was signed into law by Governor Tim Walz in May of this year.
