Rep. Bierman applauds new federal aid for 8 energy efficient school buses in Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District

Tuesday, June 4, 2024

St. Paul, MN –  Rosemount-Apple Valley Independent School District 196 will receive $1.6 million as part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus Program rebate program. The rebates will be used to cover the cost of 8 buses, which are zero- or low-emission and will improve the health of area children and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“This is a big win for the southeast metro and ISD #196 communities,” said Rep. Robert Bierman (DFL-Apple Valley). “Clean school buses are safe and innovative, bringing us closer to achieving our carbon-free energy goals in Minnesota by 2040. I’m grateful to the Biden Administration for delivering greener and cleaner resources to Apple Valley.”

The program started through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden, which includes $5 billion over five years to transform the country’s existing school buses with “zero-emission and low-emission models.”
