Huot Email Banner

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the 10/10 weather we’ve been having.  As July begins to wrap up, I hope you are looking forward to Leprechaun Days this weekend! Running from July 20th through the 27th, volunteers from our Rosemount community work hard to ensure a full week of events run smoothly for a wonderful community celebration for all. I look forward to seeing you out and about! Check out the schedule of events here

Leprochaun Days

This will be my last email newsletter from the Capitol until after the election. During an election period, legislators cannot use state resources for unsolicited communications as the incumbent because it might create an unfair advantage. I’m writing today with a few updates related to our community you might find interesting.

I am still available to help with the state-level problems and to discuss important issues in our community, so please reach out if I can assist in any way.

Rosemount Readiness Center & Police and Public Works Station Update

It’s not a summer without construction. You may have noticed fencing and extensive ongoing work updating and expanding the Rosemount Readiness Center. I secured these investments as part of last year’s local jobs and projects bill, ensuring $25,080,000 goes directly to the project. The funds are being used to renovate the space for mechanical, electrical, building envelope, energy efficiency, and safety improvements. Work is expected to wrap up in the near future.

The Rosemount Police and Public Works Station is also near completion. In 2023, I worked with state and local area officials to lead legislation that would allow the state to obtain the land to build the new space. It’s exciting to see the project underway!

Lawns to Legumes Funding

Do you want your lawn to be more pollinator-friendly? Minnesota residents can now apply for spring 2025 Lawns to Legumes funding. The Lawns to Legumes program aims to increase habitat for at-risk pollinators in residential settings across the state by providing people with cost-share funding, workshops, coaching, and gardening resources.

Anyone can apply to be reimbursed for up to $400 in costs associated with establishing new pollinator habitats in their yards. Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2024. If you previously applied for the program, you must reapply to be considered for spring 2025 funding.

Apply online at Blue Thumb’s website. For more information about Lawns to Legumes, visit BWSR’s website.
