Dear Neighbors, A big thank you to everyone who turned out for our Town Hall meeting on Saturday. We had excellent participation from residents of all political spectrums, which always makes for a robust conversation. I appreciate all input, even if we don’t agree on everything. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, you can watch the recording here. On Saturday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. I’m hosting a Town Hall meeting with Senator Maye Quade and Rep. Bierman at Falcon Ridge Middle School in Apple Valley. I hope to see you there! |

Our work continues in the Minnesota House. Bills are moving from committee to the House Floor, with some bipartisan progress. HF72 passed 130-3 and prohibits organizations from making political contributions or expending money for a political purpose. Another bill we passed creates the State Agency Value Initiative (SAVI) program to encourage state agencies to innovate and identify efficiencies and cost savings. I continue to work on bills I’m carrying as well; one I’m chief sponsoring with bipartisan authorship would require a cardiac emergency response plan in every school. As a referee, parent, and EMT, I’ve heard from many in our community about the need to have a proactive plan for students and staff experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. People Magazine recently featured a story highlighting the tragedy of a 16-year-old track student from Maple Grove, Minnesota who died after suffering cardiac arrest, and you can read more about the urgency in getting this bill passed here.
Connected to CommunityThis week, I attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new unit of the Dakota County Jail, specifically designed to support inmates facing mental health and addiction issues during their incarceration. With a safe and supportive environment, this facility enables inmates to begin the healing process while they serve their time, helping reduce recidivism, in essence, improving public safety outcomes for our communities. ![]() As one of the first facilities of its kind in the state, this new unit sets a precedent for other counties to follow. This initiative not only benefits those incarcerated but also strengthens our communities as a whole.
Minnesota's agricultural industry faces several challenges, including federal tariffs, climate change, food security, and technological advancements. Glad we have programs like the Future Farmers of America (FFA) in place to ensure young people have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the industry- and our state. ![]()
Shoutout to our incredible public (Minnesota Association of Public Employees) MAPE workers! Thank you for your work to help make this state a better place for all Minnesotans to live, work, and play. ![]()
