Neighbors,
Tuesday night, the House Jobs and Economic Development Finance Committee, of which I am vice-chair, will hold a public forum on the PROMISE Act -- a comprehensive plan to help businesses rebuild and recover, many of which are Black, immigrant, and communities of color-owned.
PROMISE stands for Providing Resources, Opportunity and Maximizing Investments in Striving Entrepreneurs. The PROMISE Act was passed by the House during the special session and is inspired by what legislators saw and heard from community members and business owners during tours of property damage in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
Small business owners, legislators, bill authors, community members, Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, and I will offer comments. This is not an official hearing, but rather an opportunity for community members to share what the PROMISE Act would mean to them and their livelihoods.
The event will take place Tuesday, June 30 at 5:00 pm at the Plaza Verde – Ballroom, 1516 E Lake St in Minneapolis.
Masks will be required for all those who wish to attend. Masks will be provided for those who do not have their own.
