Minnesota House Workforce and Labor Chairs applaud Frontline Worker Bonuses

Monday, October 3, 2022

St. Paul, MN - Today, the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry announced that eligible workers who submitted accepted applications to the Frontline Worker Bonus Pay Program will receive bonuses of $487.45, with payments beginning Wednesday and continuing through the fall. This is part of the $500 million investment in the program championed by the House DFL and signed into law by Governor Walz earlier this year.

“Minnesota’s frontline workers ushered our state through the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than earning this bonus and our immense gratitude,” said Rep. Mohamud Noor (DFL – Minneapolis), chair of the House Workforce and Business Development Committee. “I want to thank these workers for their efforts, and the Department of Labor and Industry for undergoing this process in a fair and timely manner.”

“All across the state, Minnesota’s frontline workers kept our state moving forward during a period of uncertainty deeper than any of us have ever experienced,” said Rep. Rob Ecklund (DFL – International Falls), chair of the House Labor, Workforce, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee. “These payments recognize the sacrifices of workers who came to work every day despite knowing they faced increased risks to their own health. We’re grateful for their dedication.”

Of the nearly 1.2 million applications, 1,025,655 Minnesotans will receive this bonus. More information on the Frontline Worker Pay Program, including the processing of these payments, can be found here.
