Neighbors,
I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday – I have been so busy this week and there’s still much more to come. I’m excited to share some of the things I’ve been working on.
ELL Update
Today I presented my ELL bill in its first public hearing in the Education Finance committee. I am a former ELL student myself, so I know how important it is to help all students succeed. My bill would increase ELL funding to make sure all school districts have the resources they need to provide a good education to all their students, regardless of language barriers.
Clean Energy
Yesterday was the 100% clean energy day at the Capitol, and I participated in a press conference with Rep. Jamie Long, Sen. Nick Frentz, and environmental advocacy groups to discuss clean energy and moving Minnesota toward a 100 percent clean energy goal.
We introduced a bill to transition power sources that rely on fossil fuels toward renewable sources like wind and solar, which would create 50,000 new clean energy jobs. I’m proud to support this legislation and believe Minnesota can be a national leader in finding solutions to climate change, and in creating an ambitious plan to be a clean energy economy.
Clean energy also has financial and public health benefits. Energy would be more affordable for consumers – wind is the cheapest form of electricity, and the price of solar energy is cheaper than any new fossil fuel. Each year, 2,000 people from the Twin Cities die early due to pollution.

Meeting with Constituents
Yesterday I got to meet with a group of Hmong farmers to hear about their concerns accessing capital, training, and affordable and long-term land near urban areas.
I also met with Pharmacy students at the University of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association, trying to learn everything I can about improving health care outcomes for Minnesotans. It was great to hear from these representatives and hope to continue our conversation about improving the lives of students, and all Minnesotans!
On Monday I met with people and organizations serving people at ALL stages of life – from the Children’s Museum to the Living at Home Network in Minnesota. Minnesotans are working hard to do well for their friends, family, and neighbors, and I’m so encouraged by the possibilities.
Thank you for following along as I work for you in the State Legislature. Feel free to reach out anytime by email at rep.kaohly.her@house.mn or by phone at 651-296-8799. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Kaohly Her
