Dear Neighbors, As many of you prepare to sit down with family and friends this week to give thanks, it’s also a great time to reflect on what we value. Delivering on the values of Minnesotans is at the core of our work, and as we prepare for the 2024 Legislative Session to begin in February, my colleagues and I are reaching out to ask what you and yours value most. Through the Minnesota Values Project (also known as MVP), a partnership between Minnesotans, elected officials, and organizations to create a shared vision for the future of our state, we’re working together to strengthen our communities by improving education opportunities, making affordable health care a reality, and increasing economic prosperity for all Minnesotans. As part of this effort, I’d appreciate it if you took part in the new Minnesota Values Project survey. |
You can take the survey by clicking this link. The survey only takes a few minutes, and as we build a shared vision for our state, your input is crucial in this process. I look forward to hearing from you!
Governor’s Deer Hunting OpenerJust as I joined Lt. Governor Flanagan in October for the Women’s Pheasant Hunt, this month I was able to join Rep. Cha, Rep. Hansen, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Sarah Strommen, and Governor Tim Walz for the Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener. |
We visited a chronic wasting disease (CWD) sampling station and learned how harvested deer are tested. We even squeezed in some pheasant hunting. These events with colleagues are fun, but more importantly, they do a great job of highlighting the importance of our conservation efforts at the state legislature. Hunting is a favorite pastime for many Minnesota families, and we all have a duty to protect our great outdoors and keep it an activity for generations to come. I may have sprained my ankle, but it was worth it to experience such a beautiful day! |
Hmong Daily NewsRecently, I had the honor to sit down with Hmong Daily News to discuss my life, my road to the legislature, and the focus of my work at the State Capitol. This was part of their Hmong Women in Leadership series, which highlighted inspirational and influential Hmong women breaking barriers in politics. It was an honor to be included, and you can read that story here. |
Three of my inspirational colleagues were also included, and I encourage you to read up on Rep. Liz Lee, Rep. Samantha Vang, and Sen. Susan Pha as well!
Designing Minnesota’s New State FlagDesign submissions are in for Minnesota’s new state flag and emblem, and there are a lot of great (and some that are at least entertaining) options to choose from! The commission received 2,123 flag submissions and 398 seal designs, and you can view all of the submissions here. You can even leave comments on your favorites. Somewhere among the thousands are our new Minnesota flag and seal! Next, the redesign commission will finalize their pick, and the new emblems will become official on Minnesota Statehood Day on May 11. Which ones are your favorite?
