Neighbors,
Amidst the destruction, heartache, anger and sadness, our community has once again showed us hope. I have overwhelmingly heard your calls to examine and change our laws contributing to racial injustice in our police and justice systems and I am committed to working with all you to build a more just system. As I travel around Minneapolis, I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all our neighbors who are lending a hand to one another during this crisis. Thank you for all you do. You inspire me.
How to Help
Many people have asked me how they can immediately help our community to begin healing. The Star Tribune had a great article today about how to donate food, supplies and money. You can directly donate to help Lake Street rebuild at https://www.welovelakestreet.com/.
Curfew extended
Thank you for abiding by the curfew and staying home last night. Today, Governor Walz extended the temporary nighttime curfew in Minneapolis and St. Paul beginning tonight at 8 p.m. through Monday, June 1 at 6 a.m. to protect the public peace, health, and safety and preserve the lives and property of the people of Minnesota. Letter to the Attorney General
On Friday, the Minneapolis Delegation of the Minnesota House of Representatives sent a letter to Gov. COVID Safety Reminder
With all the intensity of the last few days, it may be easier to forget we are still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cases continue to rise in Minnesota and if you are out in the community, please continue to wear a mask and keep your social distance. We don’t want another tragedy to amplify our already difficult situation. Thank you for continuing to keep each other safe.
