Neighbors,
Tomorrow night, the House Jobs and Economic Development Finance Committee, vice-chaired by Rep. Mohamud Noor, will hold a public forum on the PROMISE Act (Providing Resources, Opportunity and Maximizing Investments in Striving Entrepreneurs) -- a comprehensive plan to help businesses rebuild and recover, many of which are Black, immigrant, and communities of color-owned.
The PROMISE Act was passed by the House during the recent special session and is inspired by what legislators saw and heard from community members and business owners during tours of property damage in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
The event will take place Tuesday, June 30 at 5:00 pm at the Plaza Verde – Ballroom, 1516 E Lake St in Minneapolis. Small business owners, legislators, bill authors, community members, Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, and Rep. Noor will offer comments. This is not an official hearing, but rather an opportunity for community members to share what the PROMISE Act would mean to them and their livelihoods.
Masks will be required for all those who wish to attend. Masks will be provided for those who do not have their own.
