Neighbors,
With just days remaining in the 2021 legislative session, budget conference committees are continuing to meet. As a negotiator on the Higher Education conference committee, we are poring over each detail of the House and Senate versions of the measure. Our goal is to craft a well-rounded bill, helping adult learners get the training and experiences they need to grow and thrive. Our Higher Education budget will be an integral part of the overall budget as we proceed during the next few days.
You can watch live floor sessions here, follow the daily legislative schedules here, and monitor conference committee schedules here.
Ending COVID-19 Restrictions
Last week, Governor Walz announced a timeline for getting back to normalcy as COVID-19 safety precautions begin to be lifted with the first date last Friday for outdoor and indoor events, social gatherings, and restaurants. The next significant deadline is Friday, May 28, in which the remaining capacity and restrictions end. The credit for these changes goes to you, for your sacrifices and care for each other. We can now see the light at the end of the tunnel!
American Indian Month
May is American Indian Month in Minnesota and we celebrate the rich history of our native people and their contribution to our state. You can read Gov. Walz’s proclamation here.
REMINDER: Rent Assistance Available
RentHelpMN has opened for applications, making it possible for low- and moderate-income renters to get caught up on overdue rent and utilities dating back to March 13, 2020. It also makes provisions for those at risk of falling behind on rent payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
