Igo Statement on Trump Administration Prioritizing NorthMet Mining
St. Paul, MN—State Representative Spencer Igo, R-Wabana Township, issued the following statement regarding news that the Trump Administration has added the proposed NewRange NorthMet mine to the FAST-41 Transparency Projects list. The NorthMet site is home to one of the largest known copper-nickel deposits in the United States, metals essential to our national security, energy infrastructure, and clean technology supply chains.
“Today’s announcement is an important step in getting this critically important project back on track after years of bureaucratic delays,” said Igo. “I’m grateful the Trump Administration is formally recognizing the strategic importance of the NorthMet site and the opportunities it brings to our region, our state, and our country.
