Neighbors,
The legislative session is set to adjourn on Monday, but we have a lot of ground to cover before next week. The legislature is working every day to craft a fair budget for everyone, based on Minnesota priorities and values. The Transportation Conference Committee, on which I serve, is reviewing each line of House and Senate versions of the bill, aimed at reaching a compromise we can present to both bodies for a final vote.
One priority item in the budget this year is funding for the Southern Minnesota Children’s Museum and my kids and I stopped by over the weekend. KEYC interviewed me for a story about new and proposed funding for our regional gem.
You can find a combined House/Senate calendar here to follow legislative action, watch live floor sessions here and follow the daily legislative schedules here.
Ending COVID-19 Restrictions
On Thursday, Governor Walz announced a timeline for lifting COVID-19 restrictions. Last Friday, occupancy limits on outdoor and indoor events, social gatherings and restaurants were modified or rescinded. The next significant deadline is Friday, May 28, in which the remaining capacity and restrictions end. Thank you for your willingness to sacrifice for the safety of yourself and others. Brighter days ahead!
Vaccination Update
More than 2.6 million Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Find your opportunity by clicking on mn.gov/vaccineconnector, calling 833-431-2053 or contacting your health insurance carrier to help you find out when, where, and how to get a vaccine. This link shows Minnesota’s key data about who is getting vaccinated, etc.
This week I was thrilled to receive my second shot of the vaccine.
