Neighbors,
I hope you are enjoying your summer. It seems like there is never enough time to do everything during our short, warm months!
Enhanced Unemployment Benefits Ending
Additional unemployment benefits through Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation or Pandemic Emergency Assistance are ending the week of September 4. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is offering three webinars for you to learn how CareerForce can help you transition to a new job or career at no cost to you. Read more here.
MSOP Update
The Human Services and Health Finance & Policy Committees held a joint meeting on Monday. I serve on the Human Services committee and the hearing was held to receive an update from the Department of Human Services and Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) regarding the stats of MSOP. MSOP has two locations, Moose Lake and St. Peter. Most clients start in Moose Lake before transferring to St. Peter as their treatment progresses.
The St. Peter campus holds both the MSOP and Forensic programs. Many in our community are employed there, including me, and it’s important for legislators to receive updates and learn about ways we can improve the program to increase effectiveness and safety for everyone involved. You can watch the update here.
The Latest on the Eviction Moratorium
Recent news around the federal and state eviction moratorium can get confusing, but the important thing is to be sure you’re taking advantage of the available resource. If you have fallen behind on rent due to the pandemic, I encourage you to check out RentHelpMN.org or call 211 for more assistance.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update
The Minnesota Department of Health reports more than 3 million Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. It is still important to get your vaccine to guard against the highly contagious Delta variant showing up across the country and in Minnesota. We owe it to ourselves and our neighbors to protect each other from the virus.
Check out Minnesota’s COVID-19 Vaccine Connector, call 833-431-2053 or ask your health care provider to help you find where you can receive your vaccine.
