St. Paul, MN - Today, Governor Tim Walz signed into law a bill, authored by Rep. Luke Frederick (DFL-Mankato), to make members of the Minnesota National Guard who have more than 12 years of service eligible for reenlistment and commissioning. Under current law, only service members with less than 12 years of service are eligible for these bonuses
Rep. Frederick released the following statement:
“We can count on our National Guard soldiers to show up when the going is tough, and there have been many tough times these last two years. This bill incentivizes Guard members to reenlist and continue to serve and received broad, bipartisan support. This bonus is an appreciation for their commitment to our communities, state, and nation.”
