Neighbors,

Before we review news from the Capitol, I want to extend my deepest sympathies to residents of Burnsville following the profound loss of three heroes in the line of duty. When a tragedy hits one community, it impacts all communities. The Mankato area stands with the loved ones and colleagues of the fallen and share our hopes for healing as they grieve.

The Capitol and the Community

One of the favorite parts of my day in Saint Paul, is having visitors from the district stop by my office.

stcatherine

St. Catherine’s University nursing students from Mankato visited about their request to have Narcan more available in the community so aid can be administered quickly in the event of an overdose and the need for more nurses across the state.

MSU

MSU students stopped by to advocate for FASFA and expanded SNAP benefits for students to address food insecurity.

el3

City of Eagle Lake officials stopped by to talk about the need to include the drinking water facility in the 2024 bonding bill.

Insulin Prices Capped

Democrats are dedicated to reducing the cost of health care and protecting against price-gouging. Earlier this month, Attorney General Keith Ellison announced a landmark settlement with the Eli Lily insulin company capping insulin at just $35 for the next 5 years.

Drug companies raised the price of insulin by over 1,100% between 1990 and 2020, and this settlement ensures Minnesotans can afford their lives and live with dignity, safety, and respect.

You can learn more about the settlement and how to get insulin for just $35 a month here: https://www.ag.state.mn.us/MNinsulin35/.
