Neighbors, It seems our seasons are reversed. Seventy degrees in winter, cold and snow forecast in spring. Enjoy our changing weather and stay safe! Committee ActionToday in the Judiciary Finance & Civil Law Committee, my Safe at Home legislation was heard. Safe at Home is a program administered by the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State to help people fearing for their safety maintain a confidential address. Many of those who participate in the program are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. My update to the program allows someone moving to Minnesota to apply 60 days in advance of their move, so by the time they arrive, their address is confidential. This closes an opening that might have left them vulnerable. 2024 Legislative SurveyAs your state representative, listening to my constituents is the most important part of my job. Your responses will help me better understand your viewpoints, concerns, and values. Click here to begin. The survey will be available through the end of today, Friday, March 22. Thank you for making your voice heard! The Capitol and the CommunityIt was another busy week welcoming visitors to the Capitol from our area and around the state. City of Eagle Lake representatives continued their effort for inclusion of the water treatment plant in the 2024 bonding bill. Mankato School Board members were grateful for passage of the School Resource Officer bill. They were also appreciative of the legislature’s record 2023 education funding investments and talked about ongoing needs for the school district. On Disability Services Day at the Capitol, I met with Mankato area advocates pushing for expanded services and increased access to those who need the assistance. I met with a representative and student from the Private Colleges, who were interested in advancing grant programs. Farmers Bureau representatives and wheat growers stopped by the office.
