SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan announced that Justice Natalie Hudson will be making history as the first person of color appointed to serve as chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. The Minnesota United Black Legislative Caucus cheered the appointment and released the following statement:
“Justice Hudson is an experienced jurist who has dedicated her career to serving the people of Minnesota – never wavering in her commitment to justice. As Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, Justice Natalie Hudson will be a steady leader who will promote fairness and uphold the dignity of all Minnesotans, no matter where you live or what you look like.
“The UBLC praises Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan for working to ensure our state’s courts reflect the full diversity of Minnesota.”
