Congenital Heart Defect Awareness WeekFebruary is Heart month, and this week is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week. 1 in 100 children are born with some sort of congenital heart defect or disease. Because of prayers and the skill of my doctors, I am a heart warrior and will continue to be a voice for those with CHD. Thank you for your support and constant encouragement, and please keep praying for the many families that have experienced CHD. ![]() Updates from the Capitol![]() Monday was Black Entrepreneurs Day, and I met Dr. Artika Tyner of Planting People Growing Justice. Dr. Tyner is doing great things towards improving literacy rates in our young students. As a teacher for 20 years, I know first hand that this is a serious and pressing issue! I also met with students at the Capitol who visited with the Minnesota Foundation for Student Organizations. The groups in attendance included DECA, FFA, SkillsUSA, and more!
This Tuesday was Y Advocacy Day through the YMCA. Students involved in Youth in Government (YIG) came from all across the state to the Capitol for the day. I had the pleasure of connecting with Landon, who is a student at Pacelli Catholic School in our district. It is always great to see young people with interest in and passion for government. Thank you to all of the students to came to visit for the day!
