Dear Neighbors, I love this time of the year. ????Kids are getting excited to go back to school; being with their friends and learning new skills they can be proud of. Students arrive next week! ?? I've been back to school over the past three weeks, training for a new position, and coaching 15 non-tenured teachers to become reflective and effective in the classroom using best practices. It's so fun and rewarding to see the energy and joy these educators bring to make a positive difference in the lives of our next generation.  I know this year will be full of learning, growth, and new challenges and I wish all our students a great 2023-2024 school year! You are the backbone of our education system, and we appreciate all you do. I wish you a year of joy and fulfillment in your work. State Fair PollLast week, I had a chance to work at the State Fair on opening day at the Minnesota House of Representatives booth to hear from fairgoers. If you haven’t had a chance yet, swing by the booth in the Education Building to take the nonpartisan legislative poll; it’s another way to make your voice heard.  IGH Heights DaysInver Grove Heights Days gets underway on September 6th and runs through September 10th. It’s always a fun, local tradition I look forward to every year in our community. We also honor the organized labor movement, which has fought for better wages, working conditions, and benefits for workers.
