SAINT PAUL, Minn. - This morning, 92 percent of Saint Paul Federation of Educators members approved a strike authorization. Over two-thirds of members cast a ballot in yesterday’s strike vote.
Representative Mary Frances Clardy (DFL-Inver Grove Heights), a public school teacher of 28 years and who currently serves as the vice chair of the House Education Finance Committee, released the following statement on the vote:
“Our kids deserve the very best education and our hardworking teachers make that happen when they have smaller classroom sizes, professional pay, and a fair retirement package. Supporting teachers when they strike isn't just standing with them, it's standing for the quality of education our children deserve, and the foundation of a thriving society.”
