Education Update
Hello Educators!
My name is Ben Bakeberg, and I have the privilege of beginning my second term representing the Prior Lake-Savage, Jordan, Shakopee and Southwest Metro School Districts in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
As a current middle school principal, I am honored to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Education Finance Committee and as a member of the Labor and Workforce Committee. Decisions made in each of these committees directly impact the work you do daily!
Solving the pressing issues facing our schools will require a close working relationship between policy makers and education professionals so I’m asking you to give me your perspectives as educators with hands-on experience.
My hope is that throughout the 2025-2026 legislative session, you will share with me what you need to be successful and what changes you think will lead to a better educational outcome for our children.

My continued goal is to amplify the voice of the actual educators at the Capitol so we can create the best policies to support our schools and our students. There will be several opportunities over the coming months to get more involved, so please be on the lookout for these opportunities.
