Rep. Kristi Pursell’s Statement on Vote to Pass Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Last night, the Minnesota State House of Representatives passed HF1, the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act, after a floor debate and a final vote of 69-65.
State Representative Kristi Pursell (DFL – Northfield), who is a co-author of the legislation, released the following statement following the passage of the bill:
“I co-authored this legislation because I believe every Minnesotan has a fundamental right to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions,” said Rep. Pursell. “I respect everyone’s right to their own opinion on the issue, and I believe that choosing whether or when to become a parent is a deeply personal choice and should be free from interference from politicians. That is why I was proud to vote in favor of the PRO Act and that is why I will continue to fight for Minnesotans’ access to full reproductive healthcare and privacy.”
The legislation now awaits action by the Minnesota State Senate, which heard the counterpart bill, SF1, in the Health and Human Services Committee last week.
