Rep. Kristi Pursell Celebrates President Biden’s Visit to Northfield and Federal Rural Infrastructure Investments
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Wednesday, Representative Kristi Pursell (DFL–Northfield) welcomed President Joe Biden, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and Governor Tim Walz to a family farm in Northfield as the President began his Investing in Rural America Event Series.
The President highlighted the administration’s investments in rural communities through critical infrastructure improvements, clean energy and climate-smart agriculture investments, increasing agricultural competition, funding for tribal communities, and improving health care access for rural Americans.
Representative Kristi Pursell released the following statement celebrating the investments and the President’s visit:
“The Biden-Harris administration has invested billions to bolster rural economies like ours. I thank President Biden for his visit to Northfield and for his speech on the importance of supporting rural America.
“We’ve been hard at work at the state level to use federal investments efficiently and build on those successes the President spoke about. Whether it was creating a grain indemnity fund, providing $50 million through the Rural Finance Authority to help farmers get low-interest loans, or my bill investing $100 million in rural broadband infrastructure, I’m so glad to see both the federal and state governments working together to invest in rural communities.”
