Dear Neighbors,
We’ve wrapped-up our official work for the year in St. Paul. Thank you for the incredible honor of representing our community in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Thanks to you, we moved past gridlock and delivered historic accomplishments for Minnesota these last two years under a DFL trifecta.
Together, we protected reproductive rights, addressed our housing crisis with historic investments in housing supports and efforts to end homelessness, prioritized our students, cut child poverty by 1/3 with our nation-leading child tax credit, legalized adult-use cannabis, and so much more!
This summer and fall, I'm excited to keep collaborating with our amazing community. Even though the Minnesota Legislature has adjourned for the year, the work still continues. Please continue to reach out with any questions, comments, or ideas you may have on how to make Minnesota better.
I am writing to inform you of some opportunities that may be of interest to you:
MN PROMISE Act
The MN PROMISE Act is here to help you grow! This new program offers loans and grants to disadvantaged small businesses in specific Minnesota neighborhoods. If your business has faced challenges due to lack of capital, demographic shifts, or historical discrimination, this program could be for you.
Visit the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) website and apply today. Don't miss this chance to take your business to the next level! Grant application portal will close on 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 30th, 2024. Apply here.
E-Bike Rebate Information
The new e-Bike Rebate I helped pass into law is taking effect soon! Applications for the rebate go live on Wednesday, June 5th and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The rebate is worth 50-75% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum value of $1,500 off the cost of the e-Bike.
Individuals and retailers must apply to the Minnesota Department of Revenue to take part in this program. If approved, individuals will receive the rebate certificate by email. They will then have two months to go to an approved retailer and purchase a discounted e-bike.
Retailers will mark the certificate as redeemed and apply the discount amount at the time of purchase. They will then have one month to request reimbursement through the retailer portal.
CBS News wrote about the rebate program recently and you can read more here.
Free Park Day
Are you ready to explore? Minnesota state parks and trails are waiting! The next Free Park Day is Saturday, June 8th with free admission to everyone - no vehicle permits needed!
Minnesota state parks are open year-round, and there's a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans. With a free day each season, it's a great opportunity to get out there and explore someplace new - or visit an old favorite at a new time of year! Whether you stay the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outside, you'll make memories that will last a lifetime. Find a state park near you using the DNR’s ParkFinder tool.
Housing Support
If you're facing challenges with housing or utility bills, you're not alone. There are resources available to help! Here are a few local organizations and government agencies that can provide support.
