SAINT PAUL, MN – The Minnesota House of Representatives approved $40 million for the state’s disaster assistance contingency account Thursday. This aid will be available to address spring flooding, which is already occurring along the Red River.
“I am pleased that the House unanimously approved this critical funding to support our state,” said Rep. Jim Joy, R-Hawley. “I have been in frequent contact with the Clay County Sheriff’s department and other partners to ensure our community is prepared for flooding from the Red River. This funding will go a long way to help our area respond quickly to any flooding events and keep our residents, and their property, safe.”
Rep. Joy encourages residents to contact the Clay County Flood Hotline at 218-299-7768, Monday – Friday, 8am-4pm if they need assistance responding to flooding on their property.
