Rep. Knudsen Seeks Solutions to change that will Remove School Resource Officers from Schools St. Paul, MN – Representative Krista Knudsen (R – Lake Shore) joins fellow House and Senate Republicans in calling for a special session to address a legislative change that is affecting school resource officers (SRO) across Minnesota. A provision in the Democrat’s education omnibus bill has limited SRO’s ability to keep students and staff safe and will remove these officers from schools across the state. “I’ve talked to a number of school officials and our local police who are all telling me there isn’t a workaround for this, unless the legislature can make a change they will have to remove their resource officers.” Added Rep. Knudsen on this legislative change. “We need the governor to call a special session so we can all come back to St. Paul and fix this immediately.” The League of Minnesota Cities and the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association have publicly raised concerns about the recent removal of Student Resource Officers from numerous Minnesota schools. The House and Senate Republicans, joined by several peace officers, held a joint press conference on Wednesday morning to speak about a solution for Minnesota schools.
