House Republicans Ready to Work, House Democrats Threaten to Boycott Official Duties
ST. PAUL, MN—With the 2025 House session set to begin Tuesday, January 14th, Representative Knudsen and her GOP colleagues are ready and excited to work. However, Democrat leadership and members have recently threatened to skip out on legislative duties. Whether or not they show up, DFL members are planning on collecting their taxpayer-funded paychecks.
This threat follows a shift from a 67-67 tie between the parties to what is now a 67-66 organizing majority for the Republicans. The one lost seat is due to a DFL loss following a ruling on residency requirements according to Minnesota law. Since the House is no longer at a tie in members, Republicans are planning to exercise the authority granted to them by having this majority. A special election for House District 40B-Roseville, is planned for January 28th.
As public servants, representatives have a duty to serve constituents that have voted for and entrusted them in St. Paul. The threats coming from democratic members to boycott their elected duty is an example of fraud and dodging their responsibilities as members.
Regardless of what Democrat members decide to do on Tuesday, Representative Knudsen and the rest of the Republican caucus will be at work for you each day. They have big goals this session and will not allow threats like these to hold them back.
House Republicans’ goals for this session can be outlined in the following six pillars:
1. Stop the Fraud
2. Make Minnesota Affordable
3. Make Minnesota Safe
4. Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
5. Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
6. Build for the Future
House Republicans will be ready and present for the start of session on Tuesday, January 14th, as they hope House Democrats will be as well.
