SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Yesterday, the Minnesota House passed the Protecting Reproductive Options (PRO) Act. The bill enshrines Minnesotans’ fundamental right to reproductive healthcare. Representative Alicia Kozlowksi (DFL- Duluth) voted for the legislation.
“Bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom is a fundamental right. Period.” said Representative Alicia Kozlowksi. “I am proud of Rep. Hollins for her courageous testimony on the House floor. Minnesotans have spoken clearly, organized, and mobilized for the passing of this legislation and it’s time we act by securing reproductive freedom into law.”
The bill protects Minnesotans’ right to contraception, the right to carry a pregnancy to term, and the right to abortion, and ensures the right to privacy for personal reproductive health decisions. It also prevents interference by anti-choice politicians who seek to enact or defend medically unnecessary barriers to comprehensive reproductive health care. The Senate will act on the bill next, and Gov. Walz has signaled he will sign the legislation into law.
