Duluth, Minnesota- Representative Alicia ‘Liish’ Kozlowski released the following statement on Representative Liz Olson’s announcement that she will be retiring from the Minnesota House of Representatives at the end of the year.
“As a colleague and a fellow Duluthian, I want to express our deepest gratitude for Rep. Olson’s tireless work at the Minnesota Legislature and with our community. It’s been a tremendous honor and gift serving our community alongside you.
“As a legislator and a human, Rep. Olson is simply the best of what Duluth has to offer: values-rooted, results-driven, bridge-builder, courageously compassionate, and people-centered. Always. Her unwavering leadership is an enduring blueprint for what it means to serve our community and Minnesota. In just eight years, Rep. Olson made more progress than it would take most people to do in an entire lifetime.
“We are endlessly grateful for Rep. Olson’s leadership in bringing the fight against the opioid and housing crises from the streets to the capitol, delivering Earned Sick and Safe Time for Duluth and then for all Minnesotans, securing funding for local projects and community investments, translating the peoples’ movement into a winning agenda through the Minnesota Values Project, to crafting a state budget that reflects Minnesota’s values and set us on steady economic footing for future for generations to come.
“Your unwavering commitment, and unmatched, enormous passion for Duluth stands as a testament to you as a powerful force for good – inside and outside of the capitol. These victories and many more over eight years have made - and will continue to make - a tangible impact on the lives of children, families, seniors, and working-class people across Minnesota.
“Thank you, Representative Olson, for your hard work, your unwavering commitment, and your joyful fight for making Duluth the best place to call home. We are all better off thanks to you.
“We will miss you beyond measure but know you will continue doing incredible things with and for our community in your next chapter. For now, miigwech for everything, Rep. Liz Olson.”
