Legislative UpdateFriends and Neighbors, There continues to be extensive debate at the state capitol regarding the alleged "climate crisis." Democrats want to waste untold tax dollars to fund unproven and unreliable technologies in pursuit of some undefined, amorphous environmental goals. We need to focus on providing affordable and reliable energy to the people of Minnesota. These kinds of regulations will damage our businesses and endanger Minnesotans. You can view my remarks from committee in the video bellow. |
The Start of Omnibus SeasonNow that most of the omnibus and supplemental budget bills have left their respective committees we will begin having more lengthy floor debates on these bills as they make their way to the governor’s desk. While I hope these bills will make it to the floor with only good legislation, the unfortunate reality is that a number of these bills will have unworkable provisions. The long evenings and rigorous debate will be worth it to fight for the people of Minnesota. Whether it’s funding for education, infrastructure improvements, or public safety, we know that the decisions made here will ripple across communities. I am honored to continue the fight and stand up for the future of Minnesota. |
Reckless Government SpendingOur state legislature has been grappling with fiscal issues over the past two years. A record surplus of $17.5 billion just two years ago, indicating an over-taxation of nearly $20 billion. The DFL’s monopoly over the legislature led to the entire surplus being spent, an additional $10 billion in government spending, a 40% expansion of state government, and a paltry $260 refund out of the $2,000 that was rightfully yours. This last legislative session saw the majority pass a new 1% metro-wide sales tax increase and a new delivery fee tax, further burdening Minnesota families. These measures, combined with rising insurance and property tax costs, mean that hardworking Minnesotans are paying more and receiving less. The current legislative session continues to present difficulties for Minnesota’s families. The Governor’s transportation initiative, which aims to increase gas prices by $0.40 to $0.50 per gallon, is a particular concern. This regressive tax will not only put a strain on individual budgets but also affect the affordability of everyday items for many. |
