Update from the CapitolHappy Leap Day, Your dedication to serving our community deserves recognition. I wanted to reach out to thank you for the important work that you put into your role in educating the students of District 9B. Throughout my first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives, I have learned a great deal about government functions (and dysfunctions). Those experiences have taught me to value the connections and shared interests that allow us to cooperate effectively for the better of our communities. As I continue to work on legislation, meet with constituents and local officials, and coordinate with state-level agencies, I grow to appreciate and understand ever more the values and efficiencies of my township government. As I make decisions about the future of our state laws and the government that implements them, I carefully consider how those decisions will affect our partners at the local level. I strive to work diligently to hold higher levels of government accountable to the grassroots. Our top-heavy state and federal governments would benefit greatly from learning how to manage their tremendous taxpayer resources as effectively as our townships do with tighter margins. Please accept my invitation to call, write, or email me regarding any issues, concerns, or suggestions you have, or if I can be of assistance to you in serving your constituents. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-4946, via email at Rep.Tom.Murphy@house.mn.gov, or by mail at 313 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Saint Paul, MN 55155. Sincerely, Rep. Tom Murphy |
