Representative Murphy Statement on the November Budget Forecast Saint Paul, MN — This morning Minnesota Management and Budget released their November budget forecast for the upcoming and following biennium. Their report projects a 1.1 billion dollar decrease in the surplus compared to the last budget forecast as well as an over 5 billion dollar deficit in the 2028-29 budget. Representative Tom Murphy (R – Underwood) followed up the report with this to say: “As we warned last biennium, unrestrained government spending has consequences and we are now beginning to see those consequences on the horizon of this upcoming budget.” Said Representative Murphy. “As we head into the upcoming legislative session it will be crucial that we keep these budget projections in mind and put our state back on the right path before it’s too late. Minnesotans are already feeling the pressures of the increased taxes and fees from the last biennium's budget; as legislators, we must be respectful of their tax dollars and keep our state budget responsible.” |
