Rep. Perryman statement re: state officials report hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud in Minnesota

Thursday, June 13, 2024

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Bernie Perryman, R-St. Augusta, issued the following statement in response to the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor on Thursday releasing its second report this week revealing rampant disregard for state policies and program procedures by Walz administration officials, leading to hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud:

“This is an insult to taxpaying Minnesotans and the people who truly are in need of help,” Perryman said. “The sloppy management of our state under the Walz administration and Democrats in full control of the Capitol is the height of negligence. Minnesotans deserve to know their tax dollars are being put to best possible use, but we’ve seen the complete opposite with state leaders turning a blind eye to major fraud concerns. They opened the door for criminals to steal hundreds of millions of dollars from hardworking Minnesotans who are struggling to manage today’s sky-high prices in the Walz economy and total inflation.

"Mismanagement of frontline worker payments caused taxpayers to lose an estimated $200 million to fraud. Negligence with the Feeding our Future program allowed another $250 million or more to be stolen from taxpayers. We need more balance in St. Paul to make sure we conduct due diligence, address reasonable concerns and act as better stewards of Minnesotans’ tax dollars.”
