Representative Gillman Responds to Legislative Auditor Finding Significant Failures in Department of Human Services’ Financial Oversight Saint Paul, MN — Today, the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) released a damning performance audit of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), revealing systemic failures in financial management, legal compliance, and accountability. The report underscores troubling issues that demand immediate attention to safeguard taxpayer dollars and restore public trust. Representative Dawn Gillman (R – Dassel) followed up the report with this to say: "These findings reveal a clear pattern of mismanagement within the Department of Human Services,” said Rep. Gillman. “Minnesotans deserve better stewardship of their hard-earned tax dollars, and we need immediate corrective action to address these deficiencies. Accountability and transparency must be the standard for every state agency." The report explicitly points out “The Department of Human Services has not accurately reported its accounts receivable balance to Minnesota Management and Budget for inclusion in the state’s financial statements since 2019.” "The performance audit highlights the need for stronger oversight, improved internal controls, and a renewed focus on recovering taxpayer funds." concluded Rep. Gillman. ### |
