Representative Gillman Statement on the November Budget Forecast Saint Paul, MN — This morning Minnesota Management and Budget released their November budget forecast for the upcoming and following biennium. Their report projects a 1.1 billion dollar decrease in the surplus compared to the last budget forecast as well as an over 5 billion dollar deficit in the 2028-29 budget. Representative Dawn Gillman (R – Dassel) followed up the report with this to say: "As we warned last biennium, reckless government spending has clear and unavoidable consequences, and those consequences are now looming over the upcoming budget," said Representative Gillman. "Heading into this legislative session, we must face reality: Minnesotans cannot afford another round of irresponsible fiscal policies. Families are already grappling with higher taxes and fees forced upon them by last biennium's budget mismanagement. Legislators have a duty to respect the sacrifices of hardworking taxpayers and restore discipline to our state budget before the damage becomes irreversible." ### |
