St. Paul – Tuesday this week, a group of protesters interrupted the House Committee on Public Safety where they used a megaphone and shouted obscenities in the face of committee members, staff, and the invited attendees for roughly 20 minutes before the members and guests were instructed to clear the room. See incident here.
State Representative Bobbie Harder, a committee member in attendance said, “Everyone has a right to make their voices heard but doing so in this manner is utterly disrespectful.” She continued, “Screaming expletives through a megaphone is no way to get your point across. It’s shameful and unproductive”.
The committee had planned to hear presentations from the Minnesota Sheriffs Association, the Minnesota Chief of Police Associations, and the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association but had to reschedule due to the interruption.
