Rep. Kim Hicks Statement on Unilateral Telework Policy Order

SAINT PAUL, Minn. -  Today, AFSCME Council 5?and MAPE held a?press?conference in response to the Governor’s unilateral announcement of a major telework policy change affecting thousands of state workers. Representative Kim Hicks (DFL – Rochester) spoke at the conference.

“There are reasons that people are sought after in Greater Minnesota; when we only have workers who represent the seven-county metro area, we do a disservice to our state,” said Rep. Hicks. “Minnesota exists outside the metro and our workers should reflect the diverse communities that we represent, we come from, and we support. Unilateral decisions like this with no discussion or guidance on what managers are supposed to tell their teams creates panic, confusion, and fear. This is not how we work together.”
