St. Paul, Minn. – Rep. Matt Norris (DFL - Blaine) was selected as a 2023 League of Minnesota Cities Legislator of Distinction for his work on behalf of cities this past legislative session. Rep. Norris released the following statement:
“I’m honored to be named a Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities. I worked hard to advocate for the needs of cities and local governments and I’m proud of all we accomplished this year. I look forward to continuing to advance the priorities of our wonderful cities as we head into the next session.”
Rep. Norris was instrumental in passing several pieces of legislation to benefit Minnesota cities, including $300 million in public safety aid; substantial investments in transportation infrastructure, including $102.75 million for Highway 65; a historic increase in local government aid; sales tax exemptions for city projects; and renewal of the Anoka County Joint Law Enforcement Council.
Each year the League of Minnesota Cities identifies and awards legislators for work that has positively impacted Minnesota cities. Specifically, the Legislator of Distinction Award goes to legislators who have met one or more of the following criteria:
