Thank you to everyone who turned out to my Town Hall with Speaker Hortman this week! We had a standing-room-only crowd of folks from across the political spectrum. I appreciated the wide-ranging and thoughtful discussion we all had. I hope to see you at the next one! Here is an update from the Capitol:
1. Public Safety Aid - Making Minnesota a Safer Place to Live
Last year, I authored a new program to provide $300 million in public safety aid to Minnesota cities and counties. It allows local governments to make public safety investments without driving up property taxes.
This week in the Property Tax Committee, I shared an update on the program, including how the money is being used in our district!
2. Recruitment Bonus for National Guard - Supporting our Guard
On Monday I presented my bill, HF3453, to create a bonus program to provide payments to members who refer someone who enlists or is commissioned into the Minnesota National Guard.
This is one additional tool we can put in the toolbox of our Minnesota National Guard to make sure we hit the enlistment goals that we’re aiming for.
Our National Guard performs critical services across our state and are invaluable in times of crisis. I’ll keep you updated as this bill progresses.
Check out an article about the bill and a video of my remarks on the Minnesota House website!
3. Educator Nominations - Showing Appreciation to our Amazing Educators!
Our district is home to some of the best teachers and educators in Minnesota and it's important we celebrate them for all they do. Let us know of an educator who deserves some recognition and we'll give them a public shout out!
Use this form to nominate any educator (teacher, counselor, support staff, etc.) who either works or lives in the Blaine and Lexington area and we'll select someone to celebrate each month.
